Team Meeting

From our Founder & Chairman

DOUG WILSON

Since founding Monon Capital in 2006, I’ve had the privilege of co-creating with entrepreneurs and investors who see possibility where others see uncertainty—and who believe business can be both imaginative and redemptive.

Three convictions shape our work:

We are drawn to estuarial spaces—places where distinct domains, ideas, and communities meet and mingle. Like estuaries in nature, these spaces are unusually generative, creating opportunities for connection, imagination, and innovation.

We are founder-centric and largely agnostic about industry and technology. We invest in the team first and the idea second, asking: “Who do we want to accompany on a long journey toward solving a vexing problem and creating substantive, enduring impact?”

We practice incessant curiosity while honoring persons—those who came before us, those alongside us today, and those who will inherit what we build. We find particular joy in connecting people and ideas, helping grow fruit on other people’s trees.

Across everything we do, two questions keep us moving: “Why not?” and “How might we?”

If those questions resonate with you, we'd be delighted to begin a conversation.

Where We're Involved

Within the three areas, there are multiple past and active projects. Our active portfolio includes investments in over a dozen ventures, over two dozen conversations in the studio, and two projects in the venture lab.

Part of our investment portfolio, Lost Valley was the initial partnership for us in redemptive entrepreneurship and investing over 20 years ago.

"Fresh mountain air, idyllic green pastures, and crystal-clear fishing waters are yours at Lost Valley Ranch. Our Colorado dude ranch is the epitome of the Old West, where guests come to connect with the outdoors and each other. Horseback riding, quiet hikes, and so much more make for memories of a lifetime."

Venture Lab

We love co-creating and innovating on the outer edges of existing opportunity. Through our innovative venture lab work, we invest financial, relational, and intellectual capital. Our hope is that every co-creator experiences the wonder and possibility that emerge from asking, “What if?”

North End is a vibrant, integrated community just north of Carmel’s Arts & Design District. Its diverse homes, gathering places, urban farm, and farm-to-table restaurant create a neighborhood where persons of differing abilities and backgrounds can live, work, contribute, and flourish together. Central to its vision is an intentional welcome of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including dedicated affordable apartments and opportunities for greater independence, meaningful employment, friendship, and belonging.

THE ESTUARIAN
Poetry from a Redemptive Imagination

The Estuarian is the home for poetry from a redemptive imagination. It explores the intersections of faith, work, beauty, place, and human flourishing.

Each poem serves as a seed—inviting readers to slow down, see truthfully, love faithfully, create courageously, and participate more fully in God’s ongoing work of making all things new. In addition, each work has an accompanying note and a photo of a physical artifact, generally a piece of public art, that is an expression of the theme of each poem.
